Seaside (+ Dual Product Review)

Hey guys! I'm keeping my summer-design-theme going today with this fun, classy beach design!

Even though beach/ocean designs are pretty common, I still had to do one because a) they look awesome no matter what, and b) these starfish studs I got from Born Pretty are the perfect companion to the theme.

The starfish studs come in a 5 piece set and are available in both gold (which is the colour I got) and silver. The studs are about 7mm in length.

The backs of the studs are curved so they fit to your nail well, though I found some of the arms still stuck up a bit and would catch in things (it was definitely difficult trying to put my hair up without the studs getting caught). With that being said though I’ve been quite impressed with how long these studs have stayed on. Since I’ve been going through designs quickly lately I’ve just been using  topcoat to secure my studs, but this time around I went back to nail glue and let me tell you, it makes a huge difference. As I’m writing this I’ve now had these studs on for 4 days and they’ve survived no problem. They’re also super cute and are the perfect addition to beach or ocean nails!

If you’d like to try these starfish studs for yourself, they sell for C$3.44 (US$2.86), come in both gold and silver, and can be found in BPS’ Nail Art section.

Since ocean designs are so common, I wanted to do something to make mine stand out a little. Of course my first thought was negative space and then I decided to add some 1.2mm gold, round, flatback studs which I was also sent for review.

These studs come in a 100 piece package and are available in three different sizes (1.2mm, 2mm, and 3mm) and two different colours (gold and silver).

I really, really like these studs because they’re so small and versatile. I was also very impressed with how long they lasted; I was expecting them to start falling off quickly but they’ve so far stayed on just as long as the starfish and aren’t showing any signs of budging.

Another positive point about these is that they don’t seem to tarnish. I’ve used studs and beads in the past where by the time you’re ready to take them off the tops of the studs have turned a different colour. This usually happens a lot for me because I have the habit of touching my nails a lot when I have anything 3D on them, but I was pleasantly surprised to see that this wasn’t the case with these studs.

If you’d like to try these studs for yourself you can find them in BPS’ Nail Art section for C$4.49 (US$3.73).
