20k Followers on Instagram!

Hey guys! Today's design is a little self indulgent, but I passed 20,000 followers on Instagram this week and wanted to do a design to commemorate the milestone and to thank you guys once again for your continued support over the years! ♥

I wasn't 100% sure what I wanted to do for the background of this design, but since I never did an Instagram logo inspired design when the logo changed I figured this would be the perfect opportunity to kill two birds with one stone!

I love how the gradient turned out, and the colours are actually perfect for summer, so that was another plus of this design!

I've been on Instagram for just over 2 years now and who would have thought that so many amazing opportunities would come from it!

(Cue the sappy speech)

Tumblr had always been my primary means of blogging, and I'll admit that I was hesitant to put the blog on Instagram. It was a platform that I wasn't used to and had no idea how to use, and I wasn't sure if I wanted the added responsibility of keeping up a third social media channel in addition to tumblr and blogger. A friend of mine told me that in her opinion, making an Instagram account for the blog wouldn't be worth it, but I decided to give it a go anyways and am I ever happy that I did!
Even though it was daunting to basically start from scratch after I'd already built up a bit of a following on tumblr and was familiar with the nail art community there, it was definitely a worthwhile endeavor and something that I would definitely do again if given the choice.

Don't get me wrong, Instagram definitely is a lot of work. Like a lot. There's a constant expectation to put out new content and sometimes that can be draining, especially when people sometimes seem to forget the amount of work that goes into planning, painting, editing (and sometimes filming and editing again) a design.
But even with the pressures of the platform, I think the pros still outweigh the cons. I love the fact that Instagram is so interactive. I love that my followers can comment directly on my photos and ask me questions and give feedback, unlike the tumblr system where interaction is generally one way and feedback can only be gotten through reading the tags on reblogged posts.
I'm also a big fan of the exposure that Instagram gives you. A lot more companies are active on Instagram than they are on tumblr, a fact which was made perfectly clear to me when after only a few months on Instagram I was offered a sponsorship, and opportunity that was never offered to me through tumblr despite the multiple years I had been active on the site. I'm still very grateful for all of the sponsorships I've been offered because of my Instagram account, opportunities that probably wouldn't have been given to me if it wasn't for all of you guys supporting me and my work.

So thank you again, to all of my lovely followers, for your continued encouragement. I'm forever grateful that you liked my work enough to follow me and continue to support me through liking my posts and commenting on my pictures; I love that through my designs I can get you guys as excited about nail art as I am! ♥♥♥
