Coffee Shop

It seems like it's just one comeback after another these days!
This week's muse happens to be B.A.P.'s music video for their new single Coffee Shop. If you haven't heard the song or seen the MV yet you should go check it out. The music video is just so aesthetically pleasing, (I wanted to put every scene on my nails), and the song itself is really pretty!

This was an interesting manicure to do for a couple of reasons.
First, I had the worst time with the coffee cups on my index and pinkie fingers. I was originally going to use acrylics and have them slightly larger but that didn't turn out as planned so I had to reevaluate and I ended up with the above design.

Second is the coffee stains which are, admittedly, my favourite part of this design. To create the coffee stain effect I used watercolours, first staining the white slightly with a small bit of brown and then using very watered down brown to get the coffee circles.
I've seen a few people wondering about how to do this so I may consider making a little tutorial in the near future.

Breaking News

Once again SHINee is back with another single, Breaking News! This time it's a Japanese release, and it's also only the short version of the music video.
Even though the full mv hasn't been released I think the concept looks cool and I was inspired to create another kpop manicure.

So this may possibly be one of my favourite manicures of the year so far, probably because it's more streamlined than many of my other kpop manicures.
I used the newsprinting technique as the base of all of the nails and then played around with what else to do with them. I'm quite pleased with them, (if you couldn't tell).

This is also the first time I've used my 4mm studs. While I do still like the 2mm ones better, it's nice to have a bit of variety! My only criticism regarding the larger studs is that because of their size they sit flat on the nail instead of curving with it. That's to be expected though so I'm not that miffed about it.

Oh, and another little fun fact about this manicure, the article that I used for the newprint was an article on PSY, so this manicure is kpop to the core ~

No scenes for this manicure since it was a little more creatively designed than the others.

Here are the products used in the manicure if you're interested in them:
Revlon - 955 Quick Dry Base Coat
Rimmel London - 100 Base & Top Coat
Essie - 941 Good as Gold

Trap

I can't believe how many groups (that I follow) have been having comebacks lately!
This week my manicure is in honour of Henry's debut as a solo artist and is inspired by the title track, Trap, from his first mini-album.

I think the most difficult nail to paint here was the middle finger on my left hand, all of those little circles took a lot of patience. My favourite nail, though, is the rope on the ring finger of my left hand, I think it looks really cool!

The video for Trap is actually really cool, I was glad to see a bit of a story line happening and some scenes outside of the SM dance box. Hopefully I captured this awesome mv with this manicure!

In case anyone is interested in recreating this manicure, I made a tutorial for it which can be found here.

Wolf

Another comeback this week and this time it's EXO which means another kpop manicure from me!
So yes, just to recap, exo made their first comeback this week on May 29th with the music video Wolf after almost a year and a half of promoting Mama.

But moving on, I consider this manicure to be a little but more liberal than my others, since I've been a little looser with my interpretation of some of the scenes. However I'm quite pleased with the results so I think it's ok!

Here's a close up on the wolf detail.

I'm super proud of these nails, actually, mostly because of the wolves on the thumbs.
I used acrylics to paint the wolves, (they were hard enough in acrylic, I can't imagine having to do them with nail polish), and they turned out way better than I thought they would.
However with that being said, if I ever mention wanting to paint in acrylics with my non-dominant hand again, feel free to tell me I'm an idiot because it was really stressful.
Other than that here's another little fun fact about this manicure, the exo symbols on the ring finger are the most blatant fandom references I've ever put in a manicure.

And to top it all off, my post for this on tumblr was featured in the nail art tag! I am so excited about that you don't even know.
